Tourism group reaches out to Southern Downs businesses
DESTINATION Southern Downs has met with the region's business owners as part of a push to encourage them to become members of the not-for-profit organisation.
Implementation project manager Tracy Dobie said the aim was to ensure the organisation met the needs of businesses that benefited from tourism.
"This includes event organisers and venues, accommodation, restaurants, cafes and pubs, vineyards and wineries, attractions; tours and transport, retail outlets, heritage sites and buildings, producers and those in the service industry," she said.
"We have been asked some tough questions by business owners over these last two days and that is as it should be.
"We are asking businesses, small and large, from within and outside the region; to become members of Destination Southern Downs and those members need to be certain they are getting value for money.
" A number of businesses have already joined as member with Destination Southern Downs because they consider the benefits for them are clearly evident."
There will be a range of member benefits and services on offer from the start and as other services become available they will be offered to the membership.
The member partnership prospectus will be available on Destination Southern Downs from September 21.
