Townsville family returns to Lyons St

THE pig and calf market often draws people from far afield, and yesterday morning was no different.

While visiting his parents in East Greenmount, Townsville resident James Martin and daughter Jolene made their way to the Lyons St sale.

“We’re originally from Darwin but my mum’s family was from around Toowoomba,” Mr Martin said.

“We’re visiting for my old man’s 70th birthday, it’s just beautiful country here.

“They’ve been breeding paint horses down here for about 10 years.”

Mr Martin said he had brought Jolene to the sale four years prior and she loved seeing the animals.

“Last time she was quite a bit smaller and I could put her on the back of the potty calves,” Mr Martin said.

“It’s just something a bit fun and different for her.

“I really like seeing all the animals at the sale,” Jolene said.

“The piglets are my favourite, but they’re a bit smelly.

“I really wish we had horses as well.”
