Toys to top Christmas wish lists for Warwick shoppers
WITH Christmas just around the corner, the Tansky family at Toyworld is making sure Warwick kids get their fill of toys.
Julie Tansky runs the Palmerin St business with husband Peter and daughter Sarah.
She said Christmas was a special time to be working in a toy store.
"I've been doing it for a long time, it's coming up to 28 years," Mrs Tansky said.
"It's nice to keep the presents a secret for the parents and have that surprise for the kids.
"Christmas is really all about kids so you try to make it for them and we still get pleasure from seeing kids happy."
Mrs Tansky said Warwick's top toys this year included traditional favourites Nerf and Lego.
But she said that the Phlat Ball and Zoingo Boingo were flying off the shelves.
"Zoingo Boingo is sort of like a pogo stick that you bounce around on and the Phlat Ball you throw like a frisbee and it opens into a ball," Mrs Tanky said.
"They've both been very popular. We had to place another order to get us through Christmas, and then we got a call from the company to say they were completely sold out so we were lucky to get them in time.
"Lots of outdoor toys like archery sets have been popular for boys and girls because more people want to get their kids outside and away from the computer."
Mrs Tansky said toy prams had also enjoyed a resurgence this year while farm animals and equipment were regular top sellers.
"Being in the area we're in the Schleich range of farm animals and accessories and the John Deere tractors are definitely popular," she said.
"I know it sounds traditional, but for some reason we've also sold a lot of prams this year."
Toyworld will be open until 5pm on Christmas eve and will have extended trading hours this Saturday and Sunday.
