Tradie unhappy with service smashed motor inn's door

A GARGETT concreter says he smashed in a motor inn's glass door while drunk because he wasn't happy with the service on offer.

Daniel William Lenehan fled the scene on Nebo Road, but was tracked down by Mackay Dog Squad soon after with blood on his face.

Lenehan, 29, faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday, pleading guilty to wilful damage on December 30, 2017.

Prosecutor Bernhard Berger told the court Lenehan smashed the front door of Blue Ribbon Motor Inn before fleeing on foot with three other people.

"Police were tasked to attend the location and took up with the informant who reported what had occurred and showed police video footage ... ," Mr Berger said.

"Mackay Dog Squad attended the location and commenced tracking the offenders. A short time later, a crew in place on Milton Street and Shakespeare Street located the male person with blood on his forehead and he matched the description of the person who smashed the window."

Lenehan had "no excuse", but had been drunk and felt angry with the inn's operation.

"I just reacted in the wrong way," he said.

Magistrate Damien Dwyer told Lenehan to remember "what you do when you're drunk, you pay for when you're sober".

Mr Dwyer fined Lenehan $750 and ordered he repay $282 to the inn.

No conviction was recorded.
