WHITE flowing dresses, sparkly jewellery and Cinderella-style shoes... it must be nearing debutant season.

The St Mark's Anglican Deb Ball committee is calling all interested girls to sign up for the ball, to be held on April 19.

Committee board member Elaine Stewart said it was an experience everyone would enjoy.

"It's an old-fashioned idea that girls would have their first coming out into society," Mrs Stewart said.

"And while that isn't so now, it's still a lovely night for the girls to dress up, and the boys as well.

"They are trained to dance, and trained to be presented to the bishop, Rob Nolan."

Mrs Stewart said two girls had put their names down so far, but she hoped to get more than last year.

"We had 15 last year which was a lovely number. We thought it made for a nice crowd, but we'd like to get as many as possible," she said.

The ball will be held at the St Mary's Hall from 7.30pm until midnight.

Girls interested in attending need to contact the committee before March 1.
