Tragedy rocks Springborg family
CONDOLENCES were yesterday flowing for Ipswich teenager Cameron Venz – who was the nephew of Member for Southern Downs Lawrence Springborg – after he was killed in a car accident on Tuesday morning.
Mr Venz, 17, was travelling home from work when it is believed his white utility crossed onto the wrong side of the Warrego Hwy, 30km east of Roma.
Through his grief Mr Springborg yesterday said the loss of his young nephew was a terrible tragedy for the family.
“It is a very difficult time for our family. To lose anyone is always sad but someone so young is even more tragic,” Mr Springborg said.
This is not the first time the family has had to endure a loss in such tragic circumstances.
The heartbreak of the death is compounded by the fact Mr Venz’s mother and Mr Springborg’s sister Jean was killed in a car accident when her son was just five years old.
“His mum was killed in an accident when he was a little boy and this has been very hard for his dad and the rest of the family,” Mr Springborg said.
Mr Springborg said it was tragic the young man had been killed in such a manner.
Mr Venz leaves behind his fiancee Temika Streeting and her son Chaise.
Miss Streeting took to Facebook after the accident to tell of her enormous grief.
“I just wish this was one big hell of a nightmare and you would walk through this front door and give me a hug and a kiss like you normally do after a big day at work,” she wrote.
Mr Venz and Miss Steeting were planning to marry next year.
