Trainer showers praise on his apprentice after win
RACING: Toowoomba trainer Kevin Kemp showered praise on jockey Nicholas Keal after winning race 3 on Boxing Day at Allman Park.
Kemp trained Dream Of Ascot to a win in the Freestone Feedlot Class 3 Handicap over 1100m.
"Dream Of Ascot is a really honest mare. We have been trying to teach her to settle better at the start of races,” he said.
"My apprentice Nicholas Keal did a good job on the mare,” Kemp said.
"We have had a ton of fun with her. She won three straight last time in.
"The club has a beautiful track at Allman Park. I am originally from Mitchell so love going to country clubs like Warwick.”
Steve and Jenny McCarthy from East Greenmount, Graham Sabine and Judy Kemp own the mare which is currently leased by the trainer.
It was the fourth win in 14 races for Dream Of Ascot and took the mare's prize winnings past $60,000.
