Tree branches to blame for blackout

TREE branches were the cause of a blackout in Stanthorpe on Sunday night.

Ergon Energy corporate communications manager Rod Rehbein said crews were called to investigate after power was lost around the district at 8.35pm.

There were strong winds around the region at that time.

He said about 1700 customers were affected around the Stanthorpe region, as well as in Liston.

"Tree branches had fallen on the line, and they've then fallen onto the ground,” he said.

He said there was no serious damage to the lines and power was restored shortly after 9pm.
