Trial date set for Rockhampton doctor

ROCKHAMPTON urologist Antonio Vega Vega's trial against the State Government and the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service will go ahead on February 4 and 5 next year.

The CQHHS fired Dr Vega Vega after he was accused of botching four surgeries, including removing the wrong kidney from a patient.

The Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal has since cleared Dr Vega Vega and the Medical Board of Australia has reinstated his licence.

Dr Vega Vega is also taking legal action against six people.

His lawyer Stephen Keim suggested in Brisbane Supreme Court on Friday that if all of the parties tendered their submissions to each other, the matter might be resolved.

The surgeon is now practising privately again.
