Car stolen during home invasion found near school

UPDATE: The car stolen during terrifying home invasion of an elderly Middle Ridge couple has been recovered in Darling Heights.

Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch acting officer-in-charge Tony Morris said police were called to Wuth St at 4.10am today.

He said the silver 2009 E250 Mercedes was parked near Darling Heights State School.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Morris said the couple were detained by three men for "quite some time".

He said the car was being forensically examined.

EARLIER: Toowoomba detectives are investigating after three men were involved in a burglary this afternoon at Middle Ridge.

About 4pm three men entered a house on Mackenzie St and detained two elderly residents.

The three men then proceeded to search the house and stole a number of items.

The men then left the house in the elderly resident's car, a silver 2009 E250 Mercedes.
