Trots back the Cancer Council with large donation
THE Warwick branch of Cancer Council Queensland, was presented with a cheque for $6535 after the Father's Day Trots.
The money was handed over to the branch by Darling Downs Harness Racing Club president Anthony Collins and one of the Father's Day Trots sponsors, Ray Bunch.
The Father's Day Trots attracted a crowd of 800.
Branch president Jan Byrne said Cancer Council Queensland volunteers operated the gate and the canteen on the day.
"The Warwick branch of Cancer Council Queensland would like to thank everyone associated with the day, Anthony and his committee, Ray, Monique and Megan Bunch, and everyone that came along and had a great day out,” she said.
"The support we have received from the trotting meetings over the past couple of years has been amazing and we would like to assure everyone that the money goes directly to fighting cancer and hopefully finding a cure.”
Mr Collins said he met patrons who came from as far as Narrabri, Sunshine Coast and the Northern Rivers of New South Wales.
"You have to have different attractions each year so there will some small changes next year,” he said. "We're considering whether or not Father's Day is the best day for the meeting as some families like to stay home on the day.”
