Truck engine catches fire on highway

UPDATE 5.20pm: A fire that started in the engine area of a truck has now been extinguished by firefighters.

Crews arrived on scene on the Cunningham Highway at Maryvale about 4.50pm and reported the fire was out at 4.55pm.

A spokesman from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said the truck was carrying trees and shrubs, but the extent of damage to the truck was unknown.

Firefighters on scene called off additional resources.

No one was injured in the fire.

INITIAL 4.45pm: Firefighters have been called to the Cunningham Highway at Maryvale where a truck is on fire.

A spokesman from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said three appliances from Warwick, one appliance from Allora, one rural fire crew from Gladfield and one vehicle with senior fire personnel were called to the scene at 4.16pm.

It was unknown at that stage which part of the truck had caught alight.
