Truck rollover causes delays

STOP-GO traffic control is operating at the New England Highway near the Caltex Truck N Travel, after a semi-trailer rolled in the early hours this morning.

The Big W distribution truck was travelling east along the New England Highway when it rolled at the section of road outside the Caltex Truck N Travel about 4.30am.

It is believed the truck was not turning in or out of the service station.

Warwick Police Senior Constable Clayton Binney said the 45-year-old Warwick driver had simply run off the road.

"The driver has admitted to being distracted and looked away from the wheel and he has run off the road," he said.

"He has been given a notice to appear (at Warwick’s Magistrate Court) for driving without due care and attention."

Snr Const Binney said the Big W truck had to be unloaded of all its goods and have repairs done before it could be removed.

"Some of the tyres had blown out on its trailer and they had to be repaired before it could be towed away," he said.

Main Roads crews are at the scene of the accident and operating stop-go traffic control while the east-bound lane remains closed.

The clean-up is expected to take some time.
