VIDEO: Witness describes Warrego crash
UPDATE: The driver of a semi trailer which overturned into a ditch has escaped serious injury despite having to be cut free from his truck.
The 49-year-old Wilsonton man was taken to Toowoomba Hospital with a foot injury after his truck left the Warrego Hwy about 9.15am.
Toowoomba man Michael Watherston said the truck had just passed him in the right lane of the dual carriageway when it collided with steel cable guard rail about a kilometre east of Withcott.
"I was travelling in the left-hand lane and he had just overtaken on the right," Mr Watherston said
"His truck started to veer off the right bank and he has tried to correct it and it looks like the cable barrier has hooked onto him and swung him, tipped him over and he has slid off the side of the road.
"I was probably about five metres behind his trailer and he has basically just cut straight across."
He said passers-by stopped and rushed to the truck to help the driver.
"To hear the tyres squealing and see the trailer tip over, it was something you don't see everyday, so it was definitely an eye opener.
"It happened fairly quickly."
Traffic was reduced to one lane this morning while the vehicle was being retrieved.
