Truckie off the road

A TRUCK driver who was doped up on speed when he was intercepted by police has been taken off the road.

Roland Leon Wilson appeared in Warwick Magistrates Court this week, where he pleaded guilty to possessing both dangerous drugs and utensils.

Police intercepted Wilson at the Eight Mile on October 21 for a random drug test, from which he returned a positive reading.

A subsequent search of a black carry bag unearthed a clip seal bag containing amphetamine and a pipe.

The court heard the 42-year-old admitted to owning the drugs and said he had used them that day.

Defence counsel for Wilson said the man had taken up speed in an effort to keep his business afloat.

He was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for two months.
