RACING: Warwick Turf Club president Phil Grant was happy with the crowd at the Warwick Credit Union Warwick Cup despite numbers being down slightly on last year.

"I know of people who didn't come once the weather got cloudy,” he said.

"We had somewhere between 1300 and 1400 people at the cup meeting.”

The next turf club meeting will be the Boxing Day meeting on December 26.

"We expect the same numbers as the cup or if the weather is good, a few more,” he said.

"Boxing Cup is always a good chance to catch up with the many visitors to town. We will arrange entertainment in the pavilion as we did at the cup.”

Grant said the club was always open to hold extra race meetings.

"I told Racing Queensland CEO Dr Elliott Forbes on Saturday that we are willing to host more meeting,” he said.

In the second half of the racing season, the Warwick Turf Club has meetings on January 27, February 17, April 14, May 12 and June 16.

A Darling Downs Harness Racing Club meeting is planned in December which will include the running of the Warwick Pacing Cup.
