Turning the clock back at the Stockyard with renovations

AFTER a few hard weeks of renovating, George Smith was able to swing open the doors of the Stockyard Hotel yesterday.

Mr Smith took on the venture late last year with plans of taking the pub "back to basics".

"Cold beers, a good feed and a great games room is basically what we are all about," Mr Smith said.

"There's a large smoking area off the street, a beer garden that we are working on renovating and have many more plans.

"We will have raffles starting on Friday night and live performers in coming weekends."

Head chef Dee Seward said meals would start rolling out of the kitchen tomorrow.

"Good old-fashioned, fresh meals will be served," she said.

"Steak and vegies, crumbed fish, all fresh and nothing will be frozen."
