Twins celebrate with 180 years between them

THE 90th birthday of twins Dorrie Morton and Bell Palmer was cause for double the celebration.

The Stanthorpe-born sisters celebrated their special day with family and friends at Stanthorpe RSL Club on Saturday, February 9.

Bell's daughter Annette Steinhardt said they had guests travel from Toowoomba, Ipswich and Perth.

Born on February 11, 1923, they worked at the Stanthorpe hospital until they married.

"Dorrie moved to a dairy farm at Mt Mort when she married and they later settled in Ipswich," Mrs Steinhardt said.

"When Bell married she moved on to the family farm at Bapaume and then in about 1965 they moved into town."

Dorrie has three children and six grandchildren and Bell has seven children, 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
