Two champs in town
DON McDougall has no doubt two school equestrian championships in Warwick during the school holidays will be roaring successes.
More than 300 riders will be in Warwick for at least one aspect of the six days of competition.
McDougall is chair of Inter-school Equestrian Queensland, a sub-committee of Equestrian Queensland which organises the event.
“There will be 360 dressage tests in 10 rings on Thursday next week, one of the largest number of tests in one day anywhere in Queensland,” McDougall said.
Both events are qualifiers for national events in September at Horsley Park in Sydney, the 2000 Olympic venue.
McDougall expects 90 Queenslanders to qualify for the nationals.
The eventing championships are this Saturday and Sunday from 8am at Warwick Horse Trials complex at Morgan Park.
Next week, riders will compete in dressage, showman, showhorse and showjumping championships at the Warwick Showgrounds.
A crowd of 260 is expected at the championship dinner on Thursday week at the Douglas Feez Pavilion.
