Two Cowboys backs score doubles in win against Tigers

RUGBY LEAGUE: Warwick survived a late Souths resurgence today to post its first win of the Hutchinson Builders TRL Premiership season at Herb Steinohrt Oval.

The game was scheduled to be played at Clive Berghofer Stadium but was moved as the new playing surface was still boggy after rain earlier in the week.

Warwick didn't seem to mind the switch as they closed out a scrappy 30-22 win over the Tigers.

The Cowboys got out to a 16-0 lead at half-time thanks to tries from Bradley Morrish, Alexander Stewart and a long-range effort from Dylan Galloway.

Souths worked their way into the game in the second half but left their run too late as additional tries to Stewart and Galloway kept the Cowboys far enough in front that tries from the Tigers to Tom Landers, Connor Pyke, Dwayne Duncan and Kyle Athorn weren't enough.

"It was a bit of a slug-fest. It was very hot," Warwick captain Paul Cantwell said.

"We made a few mistakes but we got the points in the end."

The win away from home was also pleasing.

"We're one from two," Cantwell said.

"We were a bit disappointing last week but we turned it around this week and hopefully we can get another couple of wins before Easter."
