Two doubles in Warwick Wolves 7-0 women’s win
FOOTBALL: Warwick Wolves won 5-1 against Chinchilla in the women’s game in round 2 of Football Toowoomba fixtures.
Elisse Wyvill and Louise Rolfe each scored two goals for Warwick and Laura Wyvill scored what coach Derek Kane said was the best of the game.
“After some good attacking play by Sharni Reilly on the right and Bev Washbourne, Chinchilla defended the cross well,” Kane said.
“The ball was just outside the penalty box and Laura Wyvill struck it into the top corner for the best goal of the game.”
Kane said the surface was patchy at Toara Park and with the windy conditions, it was a tough game for Warwick yesterday.
“The women have played two games in the Toowoomba competition and we have found it a lot more physical than in Stanthorpe,” he said.
“We are doing really well and have two wins from two games.
“It helps when you are winning, there is a lot more travelling and we have to be prepared for the school holidays when the competition continues.
“We didn’t play during school holidays in the Stanthorpe competition last season.”
On Saturday night, Warwick went down 4-0 to Gatton at Queens Park in men’s reserve grade. The Warwick men went down 2-1 to Gatton in their first game after a return to Toowoomba fixtures.
All three Warwick open teams will play on Sunday at Queens Park with the first game at 11am.
