Warwick locals lunch with Queen

TWO locals have had the thrill of lunching with the Queen during her visit to Brisbane today.

Paul Munson of Darling Downs Insurance Brokers - and the local chapter of the Royal Society of St George - and Angelo Puglisi of Ballandean Estate winery are a group of lucky Queenslanders joining Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Southbank's River Room.

Leeanne Puglisi-Gangemi said when the intriguing phone call from Government House was answered at Ballandean Estate, little did the staff know what was in store for Mr Puglisi.

"After a few more exchanges and confirmations, it was finally revealed that Angelo had been asked by the Governor of Queensland to attend a lunch with the Queen," she said.

Describing the invitation as a "tremendous honour", Mr Puglisi said it was "something I never thought I would have the opportunity to do".

"In fact, I have often joked to friends about what I might say if I ever did meet Her Majesty."

Mr Puglisi, a Queensland Great and Australia Day Ambassador and Mr Munson are joining guests from all walks of Queensland life at the lunch.
