Two men, a campfire and plenty of hot cars at the sprints
SUNSHINE Coast man Troy Perrins is drawn to the competitiveness of the Leyburn Sprints.
He loves his race cars and has raced for the past six years with a number of different vehicles.
His other cars include a VT commodore, which is an improved production car that he often takes for runs at Morgan Park events, and a V8 commodore.
Mr Perrins visits Warwick and Morgan Park eight to 10 times a year.
On Saturday Mr Perrins had three runs in the sprints and was sitting second in his class and 11th overall.
"It's a little bit hard with three runs. Normally we'd get four or five here," he said.
Mr Perrins said he was hoping to improve on the second day of sprints.
"Anything could happen tomorrow, so hopefully we'll get better than that."
His 1940 model Ford coupe is just one of his loves.
"It was one of the very first Aussie Cars to be built and I bought it and stripped it and rebuilt it.
"It has a 2009 model engine and later technology too."
His mate Peter is his fabricator and pit crew and is always by his side if anything goes wrong.
