Two men face almost 80 child sex charges

TWO men facing almost 80 child sex charges have fronted Hervey Bay Magistrates Court in unrelated cases.

A man facing 47 child sex offences alleged to have taken place from 1971 to 1981 has been granted bail.

The man's alleged offences include 16 rape charges and 29 indecent treatment of girls less than 16 years of age, along with two charges of carnal knowledge against the order of nature.

His alleged offences are said to have occurred between January 1971 and December 1981.

His case was adjourned to May 9, and he will remain on bail until then.

Another man, who is also charged with numerous child sex offences, had his case adjourned on the same day in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court last week.

The second man faces 31 charges, almost all of which are related to child pornography.

His offences are alleged to have occurred between October and December in 2010.

His case was adjourned to July 11 and he was remanded in custody until then.

The two cases are not related.
