Two players win top cricket award in Warwick
CRICKET: Rosewood Redbacks captain Tyhe Clarkson has shared the Warwick cricket player of the year award with Maryvale Condamine all rounder Michael Bourke.
The player of the year is determined by points awarded by the captains after each game.
Clarkson has led the Redbacks team in their first two seasons of Condamine Cup cricket.
This year Redbacks made the grand final and Clarkson vowed they would be back in future seasons to win the competition.
He scored 226 runs and took 22 wickets to also win the Denis Rettke Memorial All Rounder of the Year award and shared the award for most wickets with Maryvale paceman Andrew McConnell.
Bourke has previously won the player of the year award on seven occasions, the first one was a joint win with David Fearby in 1993-94 at a time Bourke represented South Queensland Country against North Queensland Country in Caloundra.
He also won the bowling average for the first time with 6.42 runs per wicket and was leading batsman with 317 runs.
Maryvale batsman Kieran Bourke had the highest batting average, 48.3 from three completed innings.
In the battle for the Colt of the Year award, Railway Hotel Rascals player Joe Morris from Allora came up trumps with 20 wickets and 274 runs.
Redbacks batsman Coen Slatter won the Des Murphy Memorial Fielding Award while Dave Walker was volunteer of the year after leading Warwick to the first Davis Shield competition win for almost a decade.
The Tom and Margaret Walsh Medal for player of the A-grade final went to Maryvale batsman Will Gordon while all rounder Sean Bryson from the Allora club won the trophy for reserve grade player of the year.
Pat Gordon and Mitch Darton won the spots on the Wanderers tour.
