Two three-wickets bags steer Colts to T20 victory
CRICKET: Alastair Costello and John Cleary each took three wickets as Warwick Hotel Colts beat Wheatvale in T20 cricket at Slade Park on Saturday afternoon.
Colts made 6-159 with Lachlan Gross top scoring with 50 and Mitch Watson retiring after scoring 28.
Lachlan and Mitch Watson added 45 in the best partnership of the innings for the 7th wicket.
Jared Fearby was the best of the Wheatvale bowlers with 3-8 off three overs.
Young spinner Riley Doherty won an expensive battle with Colts opener Maugan Benn. After being hit for three fours and a six in the first over of the innings by Benn, Doherty had Benn caught on the boundary by Chris Cantwell late in the over to finish with 1-19 off the over.
Wheatvale made 9-131 in 20 overs with Paul Cantwell hittitng 23 and his cousin Chris Cantwell making 21.
Costello took 3-23 off four overs and Cleary 3-30 off three overs.
