Two toddlers critical after being found in pool

TWO toddlers are in a critical condition in hospital after being pulled from a pool in Sydney's north west last night.

Emergency services were called to Charbel Place at Kellyville Ridge just after 7pm last night following reports two children were found unconscious in a backyard swimming pool.

The 23-month-old boy and girl, who are twins, were rushed to The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

Police said the matter was under investigation and nothing else could be said at this time.

Both children required CPR at the Sydney home.

It is the latest in a spate of tragic incidents in recent weeks.

On Sunday a baby drowned in a Backyard pool in Port Stephens after being found unconscious by a family member.

Police performed CPR on the 14-month-old girl but she later died at John Hunter Hospital.

Just a week prior, toddler Aria Dunn died in another swimming pool tragedy in Sydney's south-west on Sunday.

The 20-month-old was pulled from the pool by her father Craig at their home in Raby on December 11.

Police said the baby girl was inside her family home with mother and her father but slipped outside unnoticed into the gated pool area and was found unconscious in the water.
