Two top footy matches on the card before Warwick NRL game
RUGBY LEAGUE: Brisbane Wests will bring two teams to Warwick to play in curtain-raisers to the February16 trial game between the Brisbane Broncos and Souths Logan Magpies.
Two Wests teams will play games against two Toowoomba Clydesdales open teams as a forerunner to the main game under lights.
A game for the under-7 and under-8 players in the area will be held immediately before or at half time in the main game.
The visit by the Brisbane Broncos NRL team will be a first for Warwick.
While the Broncos won't field a full-strength side, the team will include some players with NRL experience along with several others keen to play their first NRL footy this season.
Souths Logan will field their Intrust Super side in the game against the Broncos. As Souths is a feeder club to the Broncos, Magpies players will be keen to impress.
Warwick Cowboys president Dayne Barrett said the first major event for the Cowboys this year would be the club race day at Allman Park on January17.
"We are hoping more than 100 people from the club come to the races. Money raised on the day will help the Cowboys with ongoing expenses, including player insurance,” he said.
