Two Warwick hockey wins in the Coulter Shield

HOCKEY: Warwick won two of its three games in the Coulter Shield under-13 boys carnival at Queens Park yesterday.

The Warwick team played in division 2 and beat Toowoomba 3 4-1 in its first game and then overcame the Redbacks challenge 4-0.

Warwick went down 3-0 to Brisbane 3 in its third game on grass.

Coach Phil Rolfe said he was impressed with the form of the Warwick team.

“The older boys really helped players new to the under-13 age group while the new players shone first up,” Rolfe said.

Jack Hill stood out in the forwards for Warwick.

Josh Hagenbach was strong in defence and Jacob Rolfe controlled play well at centre half.

Jack Bergemann and his family now live at Roma but made the trip to Warwick for the carnival.

He will again play for Warwick in next month’s state carnival at the Sunshine Coast.
