Uber driver, 40, carjacked at gunpoint

AN UBER driver was carjacked at gunpoint in Brisbane overnight.

The 40-year-old man was sitting in his vehicle on Leichhardt St, Spring Hill at about 9:20pm last night when a man, armed with a firearm, threatened him before stealing his vehicle.

The driver was not injured.

Police said officers attempted to intercept the car turning from Herston Rd into Kelvin Grove Rd but the vehicle failed to stop.

The vehicle continued speeding along Newmarket Rd and Lutwyche Rd before it collided with two vehicles stopped at a red light.

Police authorised a short pursuit but it was terminated shortly after due to the dangerous manner in which the vehicle was being driven.

The stolen vehicle was last seen turning left into Lutwyche Rd.

Investigations are continuing.
