Under 16s head into finals

REDBACKS under-16 coach Brendan Walker has worked hard this season and it has paid off in spades.

His charges have secured a semi-finals berth and will play Coolaroo in the qualifying final at Rockville at 12.30pm Saturday.

Hard work and commitment have brought this about and Walker is truly proud of his lads.

The Redbacks have finished third so will have two chances in the finals series.

When these lads take their A-game onto the paddock they really are a talented unit.

A couple of games this season that should have been won were lost due to some over-confidence slipping into their play.

This is being addressed on the training track and will be of no concern during the finals series.

The 2014 season is not looking so bright for the under 16s as a number of Walker's boys are turning into men and will all be eligible for senior selection.

This becomes an exciting time for the senior squad as those moving up are talented and will give a whole new look to the club.

Brent Walker, James McKendry, Kyle Johnson, Ben Davies, Brendan Drayton and Josh Read will leave a big gap to fill.

McKendry and Read have already tasted a number of senior games and took to the task like ducks to water.

The team had the bye at the weekend but honed their skills with a full-on training run prior to the senior fixture.

Get behind these under 16s.

Your support means a lot to them at the pointy end of the season.
