Kids play outside longer in shade
WHEN you are under five there is nothing better than exploring the great outdoors and with a new shade cloth there are plenty more hours of fun avoiding the sun’s rays.
After applying for the Cancer Council Sun Smart Grant in August, Warwick Community Kindergarten principal Kerry Walters was excited to receive $1490 to assist them in putting up a shade cloth.
“They supplied 50 per cent of the funds and we supplied the other half,” Mrs Walters said.
“It provides more shade for the children so we can now extend the play time outside where they will be out of the sun.
“The kids are really enjoying the longer time outside.”
Within a day of receiving the donation Mrs Walters was overwhelmed to find the Sunset Canvas workers in the kindergarten’s playground assembling the cloth.
The grounds are a delight for any children and there are still places for pre-prep aged children to enjoy 2010 at the community kindergarten.
The hours are 13.75 per week as per new government regulations and alternate between Monday and Tuesday with alternative Wednesdays for one group and then alternating Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays for the other group.
