UPDATE: Mitchell Shield game postponed
UPDATE: This game has been postponed to next Sunday due to wet weather at the host ground of Mulgowie.
CRICKET: Warwick's bumper weekend of cricket will be highlighted by the final of the Mitchell Shield, as the representative side looks to turn the tables on Lockyer at Mulgowie tomorrow.
Despite a run of losses before this season, Warwick turned around its fortunes, not only winning its first game for a few years, but making the final.
Captain Jason Steketee said it was a big effort from the players to progress as far as they had.
"The win against Stanthorpe was our first in a few years," he said.
"I've lost at least six and it was my first win as captain."
Lockyer came out comfortable winners in the regular season encounter between the sides but Steketee said they had the talent to turn it around.
"If we put it together and play well, there's no reason we shouldn't win," he said.
"We'll be missing our two opening bowlers (Mitch Darton and Andrew McConnell) so our guys will have to step up and, hopefully, get the job done.
"We've got a good team but scoring enough runs has been an issue, so we hope we can give our bowlers something to defend.
"Lachlan Gross and Will Gordon are two of our better batsmen."
Gross, who will play alongside brother Jacob, scored 45 in an earlier fixture against Stanthorpe.
Despite going down in their only meeting, the Warwick side bring in strong Condamine Cup form to tomorrow's game.
