US in sights as Doro sets sail for London
WARWICK teenager Talitha Doro will leave for London today to take part in the Australian Under-19 Schoolgirls' European tour.
The tour will comprise of games in Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales and while Doro has played in overseas tours before, she said she was excited to be representing her country overseas once again.
"I went on the same tour last year so I sort of know what to expect and hopefully that helps me," Doro said.
"My end goal is to play for the Matildas so hopefully this can be one more step towards it.
"I think playing against quality players helps lift your game - I've learnt that your first touch needs to be really good and you need to be strong on the ball."
While she will be away from home, Doro will have some familiar faces around her on the pitch.
"There are four girls from Queensland that I've played with before who are in the team and there are three players from last year's tour," she said.
"It's great fun just touring and in one of the games we'll be playing the Arsenal Ladies' side, which will be good."
When she returns from the trip, Doro - who can play midfield but expected to play left back for Australia - said she would begin looking for a move to a college in the United States.
"My goal is to go to college in the US," Doro said.
"I haven't really looked for anything yet so I don't have a preference. I'll just see what comes.
"If I do get a move it would be different but I've had some preparation with going away on tours before."
