Useful rain on the Southern Downs and beyond

SOME areas on the Southern Downs and in the Border region received useful rain to 8am Sunday.

There was 28mm at Victoria Hill, west of Allora, and 85mm just west of Goondiwindi.

There is a strong possibility of more rain on the Southern Downs this afternoon.

At 7am Sunday, heavy rain fell for a short period as a storm hit Warwick.

Nicholas Shera from the Bureau of Meteorology in Brisbane said by 8am, most of the rain had passed.

"We are forecasting showers and a storm for the rest of Sunday which could include high winds, hail and heavy rain,” he said.

Warwick received 9.2mm in this morning's storm.

After Sunday, the probability of rain during the week lessens.
