Vandals destroy Girl Guides club

THE children and parents involved with Stanthorpe Girl Guides are devastated after vandals broke in and graffitied the group's Derwent St club house.

Obscene images were left on the walls and the floor is now completely tarnished by paint.

Police are still investigating the incident, which is thought to have occurred early on Sunday, March 31.

Regional leader Jill McCosker said she was shattered when she first heard the news.

"Volunteers have given so much time to the girls," Mrs McCosker said. "They trashed the whole place."

The guides will now need to find a temporary location for their Monday meetings, at least for the next couple of weeks.

Mrs McCosker said that cancelling was not an option.

"No we can't cancel, that would not be fair on the girls," she said.

Mrs McCosker said she hoped the culprits realised the pain they had caused.

"I'd love for them to come and help clean up," she said.

"It's had a huge impact on us."

Ten-year-old Emma was upset by the damage.

"I'm very sad and angry," she said.

A number of the girls will conduct a fundraiser to raise money for the Girl Guides once school resumes after the Easter break.
