THE Rural Ambassador title for this year's Warwick Show could have an influence from south of the border.

Grace Cheal grew up in Inverell in northern New South Wales, and said she was able to experience rural life.

"It's a fairly similar place to Warwick,” Miss Cheal said.

"My grandfather had a property with livestock, horses and cropping.”

She said the opportunity to represent the rural side of Warwick would be an honour.

"I've had so many people on my way help me along,” she said. "People have been encouraging me to get out there and do something I normally don't do.

"I've had a few friends that have been involved in the Warwick Show, and it would be a good way to connect with people and a good experience.

"It's not so much about winning but taking part that matters to me.

"If I am able to help out or encourage someone along the way then I'd definitely feel like that's a win.”

Miss Cheal is currently training as a vet nurse, working part-time with the Warwick Equine and Condamine Vets.

She said the experience has served as a rewarding one for her. "There's just something about working with people in communities,” she said. "I've done lots of travelling through Australia and have been able to be a part of the community.

"I enjoy working with animals and being outside.

"It's rewarding, and makes me feel pretty good.

"Cattle and horses are a big part of the line of work.”

The Warwick Show Rural Ambassador will be announced at presentation evening on March 17.
