Victorian rider wins champion rider challenge in Warwick

CAMPDRAFTING: Maffra dairy farmer Michael Hiscock won the Champion Rider of Australia Challenge over three rounds at the Warwick Rodeo.

Hiscock represented the Gippsland Campdraft Association and was the top individual while the Southern Campdraft Association won the overall award for top association in Australia.

The Maffra rider has previously won two Gold Cups in Warwick and his wife Vicki made sure it would be a successful week at the Warwick Rodeo with a ladies silver cup win on Friday.

Hiscock won the champion rider individual award with a three-round score of 264.5 on Mewburn Tip Top.

He won from New South Wales rider Ben McNaughton from Walcha riding The Ranch Tiptoe to a score of 260.5 and Capella rider Steve Comiskey who rode Delta to 257.

The Hiscocks milk 250 dairy cows a day at Maffra and treat a trip north to Queensland campdrafts each October as their annual holiday.

"We didn't come last year but have met some great people over the years at Warwick,” he said.
