Victories for two Warwick boxers at Roma tournament
BOXING: Warwick pair Felicity Parsons and Kye Lawler won their fights at the Roma Police Citizens Youth Club tournament at the weekend.
The two Warwick Boxing Club members both won unanimous points decisions.
Parsons was in the 54kg junior division and now has three wins and one loss while Kye is in the schoolboys 42kg division with a record of two wins and one loss.
Warwick Boxing Club head trainer Damien Lawler said both were clear winners.
"Felicity's right hand was the most dominant punch in her fight while Kye did best with his upper cuts,” Damien said.
The next tournament for Warwick boxers is on June 1 at the All Stars Boxing Club at Pine Rivers.
Jake Wyllie will fight an opponent from New Caledonia in his last fight before the nationals at the end of June.
"We are hoping Bethany McMahon will be matched at Pine Rivers for her second fight,” Damien said.
"She went down in a split points decision in her first fight but has definitely improved in a lot of spars.
"Officials are hoping to find suitable matches for Felicity and Kye can also be matched.”
