Victory and top player awards for Waugh siblings

POLOCROSSE: The Waugh siblings from Cunningham club won the two major awards at the Gold Coast Gold Racquet Polocrosse Carnival at Killarney at the weekend.

Todd and Ryle Waugh played in the winning Cunningham 1 team in the Gold Racquet competition.

In the Gold Racquet grade, Todd won best horse and rider and was best male player of the carnival while Ryle was best ladies player in the carnival.

The siblings were joined by a second set of Cunningham club siblings, Anthony and Zac O'Leary, and Northern Territory players Steve Nolan and Sam Cook completed the team.

Nolan and Cook run businesses in the Northern Territory and travelled to the Southern Downs for the second time in two weekends for a successful weekend. They were part of the Cunningham team, which claimed runners-up position in A grade at their own carnival a week earlier.

Nolan, who won best No.1 at the weekend, will be back on the Southern Downs later this week when he plays in the three games between two teams from the Australian men's open squad.

Ryle Waugh is the Cunningham player in the women's games between two national squad teams as part of the IOR Petroleum Rose Bowl Carnival.
