Victory at Morgan Park

DRIVERS from Western Australia and New Zealand combined to win the Australian Manufacturers Championship round in the Shannons Nationals at Morgan Park Raceway at the weekend.

Steve Kostera (WA) and Inky Tulloch (NZ) drove a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo as part of the TMR Performance team.

After the weekend’s round, Kostera is the overall leader. Tulloch is just behind courtesy of missing the first round of the series due to a wedding.

In the one-hour race yesterday, there was not a compulsory driver change but the TMR team changed drivers in 36 seconds, the same time it took their pit crew to change tyres.

On balance, the pair believes a driver change is a plus.

Tulloch was the second driver and said it took about three laps for him to get into the race.

“It is a bit of a penalty early but the flip side is you feel better late in the race,” he said.

The major incident in the seven classes was the Formula 3 of Tasmanian driver Josh Burdon which overturned.

He was not injured.
