Visitors hopping mad over rainfall

WATER-loving green tree frogs would surely be happy to see the rain fall this past week, but none more so than the one that turned up at Barry and Jenny Heffernan's home.

The Warwick pair made a visit to their rain gauge at the end of last week, only to find a web-footed visitor perched inside.

"There's been a few more frogs since the rain began but we haven't had one in our rain gauge before," Mr Heffernan laughed.

"We have a bit of a garden and I've read that frogs mean the environment's healthy which is good.

"We don't get them in the house."

The Warwick garden enthusiast said he and his wife generally kept an eye on the rainfall and was happy watching the millimetres clock up.

"It's good for the garden - it saves having to walk around and water the plants," he said.

"I don't think we've seen the end to it though by any means. They're saying (the rain's) going to continue over the next few months."

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Brett Harrison said while he couldn't say what the weather would do over the next few months, he said rain would hang around until Friday.

"There will be isolated showers and thunderstorms (today) through to Thursday," he said.

"Friday will be fine in Warwick and the Granite Belt, though there could still be showers and thunderstorms in the west of the Darling Downs."

Mr Harrison said by the weekend, temperatures and clear skies would be "much better" than what Warwick had experienced recently.

Temps

Today: 19-30 degrees.
