Volunteer ready for her 14th Pentath-run
RUNNING: Margaret Trahair has been part of the Daily News Pentath-run committee since the event started and wouldn’t miss it for the world.
Her son David was dry courts manager at WIRAC and involved in Warwick Adult Fitness when he came up with the idea of five events adding up to the marathon distance.
David and Margaret were two of the inaugural committee members/volunteers.
She hasn’t missed her gig as a volunteer at the Pentath-run and will be joined this weekend by Gavin Stewart, Nancy De Prada, Russell and Di Werner among a group who were involved at the start and are still involved.
Current committee president Karen Gilchrist has been involved in 12 Pentath-run events and Jonno Felton has come on board to organise logictics, a role becoming even more important as nominations grow.
This weekend’s event will only be the second Pentath-run David Trahair has missed in the past 14 years. Even after moving to Brisbane to follow new work opportunities, he has been a regular at the Pentath-run.
She said Pentath-run was a great chance to catch up with many of the regulars.
Record nominations have been received for this year’s event. Runners can still nominate between 30 minutes and one hour before each event.
