Volunteers ready for fireworks at Allora Showgrounds

VOLUNTEERS with the Allora Show Society are busy preparing for tonight's annual New Year's Eve Family Night at the Allora Showgrounds.

Organiser Ted Cowley said the Southern Downs Regional Council was sponsoring the fireworks operators on the night.

"This will be our fifth year running," he said.

"Since we ran the first one, the community response has been so positive.

"Everyone said it was great to have a family night for New Year's."

Mr Cowley said there would be plenty of activities for the children tonight.

"We've got a blow-up movie screen, races and games set up in the showgrounds and some live music for the adults as well," he said.

Gates open at 5.30pm and tickets available at the gate.
