Voters missing on roll
AFTER four decades of heading to the polls, Barry Hunt was surprised when his name was nowhere to be found on the electoral roll at the weekend.
Mr Hunt was even more surprised when his wife, son and daughter-in-law also discovered they had been ditched.
"There were two or three in front of us with the same complaint," he said.
"They couldn't really pin- point (why)."
He said the polling booth staff said he could fill out an enrolment form on the day.
"We quite possibly could have voted but it probably wouldn't have counted," Mr Hunt said. "I was very shocked and quite annoyed, because I value my vote."
He said he moved addresses but was still registered in the Southern Downs and had received mail at his new address from the electoral commission in the weeks leading up to the election.
The Queensland electoral commission hadn't responded to the Daily News' queries by the time we went to print.
