Wall to captain the Wolves in semi showdown
FOOTBALL: Zac Wall will captain the Warwick Wolves colts team in Friday night's major semi-final against Garden City at Commonwealth Oval at 8pm.
Despite winning the minor premiership, the Wolves are required to travel to Toowoomba to play the major semi on the home ground of the second-placed team.
Warwick will be at full strength except for the possible absence of Devon Cooper with a hip injury.
Devon is a right midfielder and Jack Grambauer is likely to move to the right for the semi if needed.
Coach Tony Cooper was happy with the Tuesday night training session.
"The team has trained well all season,” he said.
"We have two wins and one loss to Garden City this season so will go into the game with plenty of confidence.
"They have some strong strikers but I am confident in the defensive ability of the Gordon brothers, Will and Joe, who have been strong all season, as well as Saxon Charles, Mitch Lyons and Alex Dwan in defence.”
If Warwick wins the Friday night semi, the coach has promised some intense training sessions in the next three weeks as there is no colts footy next week due to the Football Toowoomba presentations and then the preliminary final will be played the following week.
The winner of the major semi will play the winner of the preliminary final in the grand final on September 8 at Clive Berghofer Stadium at 8pm.
The Wolves will start organising a bus to the grand final once they secure a spot in the decider.
