Wanderers trip for major trophy winners
CRICKET: Carter Bilbrough always thought it would be nice to win a cricket trip with the Wanderers as he listened to the Warwick cricket presentations each season.
On Saturday night, Bilbrough (Wheatvale) and Dave Walker (Maryvale Condamine) were named as the two Warwick players to earn trips on the Wanderers country tour which will include games at Warwick and Texas.
Test pair Geoff Dymoch and Ian Healy are two regular Wanderers tourists.
“I wasn’t expecting a trip but it should be a good tour,” Bilbrough said.
At age 18, Bilbrough is off to university and plans to play some winter warehouse cricket to prepare for the tour.
As for Walker, he is eyeing off the chance to play against brother-in-law Jason Steketee.
“I want to get Jason out when Wanderers play Warwick,” he said.
Bilbrough won colt of the year and Walker his second player of the year after sharing the win in 2015.
