Warm reception for J & J weekend
AS THE dust settles on the first weekend of Jumpers and Jazz in July, art gallery director Karina Devine is catching her breath after a hectic few days.
Saturday was the busiest day for the Warwick Art Gallery with about 500 visitors walking through the doors.
"And that's not including the others who were outside and didn't come in," Ms Devine said.
She said it was the volunteers who made the process run so smoothly.
"I had 12 volunteers working for me (on Saturday) and they are just amazing," she said. "That's the only reason I can handle all this - because of the support of my volunteers."
The Art Gallery artists market, which was a first for the festival, was a success and Ms Devine said she couldn't have imagined it going much better than it did.
"The artists market went really well," Ms Devine said.
"The deck chairs have been a dream of mine to have here and so we finally had them.
"I went to London in 2007 and saw they hired deck chairs in the parks over there and I though 'I want them here', and so it's been five years in the making, but they're here."
First-time Jumpers and Jazzer Karen Hunter said she was pleased she had made the trip from Brisbane to join in the festival fun.
"The decorations and the craft work - it's all quite unique," Ms Hunter said.
"And all the venues are so close so we just parked the car and have been walking around - it's great."
The festival continues this week, wrapping up with a bang at the weekend.
