A COLD snap will hit Toowoomba and the Darling Downs this week, with sheep graziers warned that there will be a high risk of livestock losses.

Overnight temperatures across the Darling Downs and Granite Belt could fall to as low at four degrees over the weekend.

Showers and strong westerly winds are expected on Saturday.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns "there is a high risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions".
