Warwick cricket team has a chance for finals
CRICKET: Southern Downs needs one more win in its final two games to secure a spot in the regional Under-14 final of inter-city cricket.
In its first four games, Southern Downs won three games with two to go. The team has away games against Lockyer and Toowoomba in the next fortnight and it is likely one win will secure a finals spot.
Two years ago, some of the same boys were in the Under-12 side which made the final.
On Sunday, Warwick was bowled out for 209 in the 45th over. Kirby Morunga 62 not out, William Ole, 40 and Harry Williams, 31, led the way for Southern Downs.
In reply, Western Downs were dismissed for 152 runs in the 42nd over. Standout bowler was Jaiden Fidge with 4-24 off 10 overs and Sean Bryson took 1-33 off 10 overs.
The Warwick Under-12 side had their first representative victory in four games with a 72-run victory.
Western Downs were bowled out for 94 in 41 overs with Scott Radford taking 3-4 off four overs, including two bowled and one caught in one over.
The Warwick side fielded brilliantly with run outs to Ben Joyce and Lucy Bourke.
Warwick scored 9-166 off 50 overs. Josh Hagenbach hit 32 not out and Max Keable hit 23 not out.
